Webpage Overview

With SchoolSpeak’s webpage resource, you can provide important information in an easy to use format. The information posted using the webpage resource is accessible as long as you keep the resource online.  The webpage resource offers SchoolSpeak users the same easy to use interface, and additional options that the Bulletin resource provides.

This is another of SchoolSpeak’s most commonly used resources. Schools use the webpage resource to share forms, the school handbook and to guide parents through the application and registration process requires additional SchoolSpeak Form resource).

A typical SchoolSpeak implementation includes a preconfigured webpage in each classroom group called about. Teachers may use this webpage resource to share classroom information with the parents such as:

  • Welcome to class message
  • Rules for the classroom
  • Teacher introduction
  • Party information
  • Absence and homework policy

But webpages can be used for more than sharing policies and rules. Our SchoolSpeak teachers have expanded the use of the webpage resource in their classrooms. Using the webpage resource, teachers can create

  • Project resources
  • Reading and math centres
  • Photo “albums “of important events in the classroom
  • Summer work resources
  • Reference material resources
  • Subject oriented information centres

NoteWebpage content may be typically accessible in SchoolSpeak for a year after creation. To learn more about archiving and purging resources please refer to the system admin resource.

What is the difference between a Bulletin and a Webpage Resource?

The key difference between a bulletin and a webpage resource is the period of time that the information shared is available. A bulletin is displayed on a group’s homepage for a period of time. A webpage typically is available for a longer period of time – until you decide to remove it from view.

Note: The bulletin resource will display on the homepage for the period of time that has been set in the creation of the bulletin. Once that period of time has elapsed the bulletin may be accessed by clicking on the bulletin listing under the group Quick links section.

webpage typically is available for a longer period of time – until you decide to remove it from view.

When should you use the Bulletin resource?

The bulletin resource should be used for items that are typically time-oriented – newsletters, announcements and time-sensitive information (for example seasonal or holiday messages).

When should you use the webpage resource?

The webpage resource should be used for information that members need to access for longer periods of time – handbooks, project information, and additional educational support links. The webpage will remain available until it is hidden from view of SchoolSpeak members.
