Additional options when using the Bulletin/Webpage resources including:

  • Printing Announcements/Webpages
  • Emailing Announcements/Webpages
  • Copying Announcements/Webpages to another Announcements/Webpages resource
  • Moving Announcements/Webpages to another Announcements/Webpages resource
  • Deleting Announcements/Webpages

Print or email the Bulletin/Webpage using the Print and Email function on the announcements page.

To print the announcements/webpages:

  1. Click the Print link.Image title
  2. Set the print options
  3. Click Print 

Email

To email the announcements/webpages:

  1. Click  Email Image title
  2. Select either to include the announcement as content in the email or to email a link to the announcement and its content on the Email this page pop-up window.
  3. Click OK.
    • Use Show CCoptions...  to select the email recipients in CC and BCC fields.
    • Click Preview button to review the message before sending.
  4. Draft an additional email message (optional).
  5.  Click Send.

Edit

Edit  Announcements/Webpages to modify previously created and published content.

Copy

To copy the announcement to another Announcement/Webpages resource

  1. Click More at the top of the page
  2. Click Copy to prompt the Copy pop-up window.
  3. Select the destination Group: Resource.Image title
  4. Click Copy button to copy the announcement/webpage to the selected destination resource.

Move

To move the current announcement to another group

  1. Click More at the top of the page
  2. Click Move to prompt the Move pop-up window.
  3. Select the destination Group: Resource.Image title
  4. Click Move button to relocate the announcement/webpage to the selected destination resource.

Delete

To delete an Announcement/Webpage

  1. Click More at the top of the page
  2. Click Delete link to remove the announcement/webpage.

Editing the Content of an Announcement/webpage

A published Announcement or Webpage may be modified or removed at any time. There are two ways to access a published announcement/webpage to edit it.

Option 1: Through the Homepage

  1. Click on the announcement listed on the SchoolSpeak Homepage
  2. Click More at the top of the page
  3. Click Edit.Image title

Option 2: Through the Announcement/Webpage resource

  1. Click on the announcement/webpage resource through the Quick link under the group.Image title
  2. Click Edit  to the right of the announcement/webpage name
  3. The announcement editor will open.
    Make any adjustments at this time.
  4. Click the Update button when all changes have been made.

You may edit an announcement/webpage as many times as required.                         

Additional Options when using Bulletin and Webpage Resources

Making the resources available without logging into SchoolSpeak

Some schools have groups and resources that may need to be viewed by persons who are not a part of their SchoolSpeak community. Administrators and teachers may opt to allow non-members to view a particular announcement/webpages.  This may be helpful especially for clubs or sports groups that have schedules, rules or handbooks that need to be shared with participants that are not part of the school.

There are three options

  • As per resource configuration – SchoolSpeak will use the options that you chose when you created the new resource (default option)
  • Accessible without login – You may link the URL of this  announcement to a link on another website, usually the school’s website.
    Note: This option requires changing the admin setting Access to Some information can be accessed without login.
  • Login  required for access –  Only active members of your SchoolSpeak community will be able to view this  announcement regardless of the resource settings.

Adding an Attachment

Adding an attachment(s) to a bulletin is a fast and convenient way to distribute forms or previously created information. You may add any kind of file - .doc, .xls, pdf. SchoolSpeak typically recommends using PDF files so that parents can open the file on a smart device or tablet.

  1. Scroll down the page below the text box.
  2. Click the Click to add attachments link.Image title
  3. Insert a description of the file (Optional).
  4. Click Choose.
  5. Locate the file to upload by navigating the file folders, highlight the file name and click the Open  button.Image title

When members view the announcement/webpage, most web browsers will automatically offer to download and open the file that has been attached.  The user may also click on the link to download the file.

Remove an attachment

To remove an attachment from from a bulletin/webpage

  1. Click on the announcement/webpage resource and click on Edit  next to the announcement/webpage name.
    or
    Click on the announcement/webpage resource and choose Edit  from list at the top.
  2. Scroll to the end of the announcement/webpage until you see the box  with the attachment listed.Image title
  3. Click Remove  next to the attachment name.

Embed-and-Redirect to another Webpage

Using the announcement/webpage resources, you may link to another webpage either in SchoolSpeak or an external site. You have two options:

  • Embed  – A small window with the linked webpage will open within your announcement/webpage. You have the option of choosing how big or small the window should be.
  • Redirect  - The reader will leave the current announcement/webpage and go to another webpage (either within SchoolSpeak or another external site).

To embed a webpage in an announcement/webpage

  1. Create announcement/webpage, if you have not already done so.
  2. Scroll to the section ‘Embed or Redirect to a web page’.
  3. Select Embed  option.Image title
  4. Insert web address of the page web page you are linking to. For Example http://www. Naturecenter.org.
  5. Optional  Designate the dimensions of the window that will display the URL on the bulletin/webpage by adjusting the numbers within the dimension boxes.
  6. Click  the Add  or Update button.

To redirect to a webpage

  1. Create announcement/webpage if you have not already done so.
  2. Scroll to the section ‘Embed or Redirect to a web page’.Image title
  3. Select Redirect  option.
  4. Insert web address you are linking to.
  5. Click the Add or Update button.

When a member opens the announcement/webpage, the page will automatically redirect the member to the new webpage. There is also the option within the announcement/webpage to click on a link that will take the member to the desired page, if the redirect does not work.
